Ordinary Miracles

‘Tis the day before Thanksgiving.

The bird is ready.

The school speeches have been made.

Grandmother’s table is set…

…with the other grandmother’s ceramic turkey.

My chicks will soon all be home to the nest and I am deeply content.

So at peace, in fact, that there is nothing left to do this drizzly day but put some yarn on my hook and crochet the afternoon away. ❤

For a fun crochet Tom turkey, see this previous Thanksgiving post:

Happy Thanksgiving! Be blessed, tomorrow and always.

Granny Squares, Mr. Tom?

Finished! Just in time, and better late than never, right?

Mr. Tom turned out so nicely!

And just in time for the holidays, too.

First, a few granny squares:

Then a body (slighty smaller than the original pattern, I like my turkeys petite, hee hee), beak, snood and cute eyes:

I love her clever use of a shell type stitch for these neat amigurami eyes! Here is my sketch of the chart:

Sew up according to the pattern and in no time you have a darling turkey for your table or to gift the neighbors!

Many thanks to Petals to Picots for this sweet pattern! You can find the link here:

Happy Turkey-making!
